A message from the Parent Association:

Many thanks to all those who came and supported the Parents Association Christmas Shopping evening on 18th November. A great time was had by all, with lots of lovely gift and craft stalls and yummy cakes. We enjoyed carols from the  church choir and got into the festive spirit.  We were delighted to raise £353 towards purchasing a defibrillator for the school.

Safe from Cyberbullying

t-cyberbully-enhd-ar1

As Year 6 told us in assembly last Friday, we don’t just #StandUpToBullying during anti-bullying week.

This week we talked about cyberbullying in assembly. That means intentionally and repeatedly trying to hurt someone using digital devices and online sites and apps.

Visit lawfordmead.essex.sch.uk/links/esafety for help with keeping safe online and remember the rules we discussed…

STOP – Log off when bullying is happening.

BLOCK -Block and report the sender.  Do not respond.

RECORD – Save the message or take a screenshot to show an adult.

TALK – Tell an adult you trust.

And don’t forget the definition of bullying we discussed last week…

Stand Up!

standup1

This week is Anti-Bullying Week and schools across the UK will be discussing bullying and what we can do to stop it.

At Lawford Mead this year we are joining the STAND UP TO BULLYING campaign. Staff and pupils are making pledges to do their part.

Keep an eye on this blog and the Highlights section for photos of pupils and their pledge posters.  For now, Mrs Baker and Mrs Burrells have got things started!

You can leave a comment below to share your pledge too!

Lots To Celebrate

sonic-1

It was lovely to have Reception classes join us for our Friday assembly for the first time last week.  Larch and Laurel contributed brilliantly to the celebrations.

Well done too to the Hedgehogs house team for being at the top of the leader board at the end of last half term.  Children in Hedgehogs across the school have shown the school values 5316 times since September! Amazing. Will they still have the lead at Christmas and get the end of term treat? It is still very close between the four teams!

Thank you too to the Year 5 & 6 pupils who read us war poetry during reflection time to focus us back on the learning about remembrance day that is going on across the school.  We look forward to hearing more from Mrs Moston about her trip to Flanders fields.

Poppies For Sale

pop-1 pop-2

Thank you to the Year 6 pupils selling poppies (and poppy stickers for younger pupils) at break times.   All to raise money for http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/.  We are looking forward to our Remembrance activities next week.  At this time of year pupils at Lawford

Mead always make us proud by showing our value of respect.

Who can leave a comment below to say why they are wearing their poppy and what this time of year means to them…?
