LET’S ROCK!

Sorry for the blurry photo, but our resident drummer was rocking so hard the camera struggled to focus!

We always like to have fun in our celebration assemblies and it is never more fun than when our talented rock star plays for us!

Fantastic too to hear the current total raised for Cancer Research UK by our Race for Life event…

£1,050!

Thank to all who have donated.  I’m sure that total will continue to rise over the weekend.  See photos of the event and information about donating here.

Well done everybody. Have a well-earned, relaxing weekend.

Reflective role models

It’s not just the staff in their new hi-viz jackets who have been ‘reflective’ recently, our Year 6 role models always write very thoughtful and thought-provoking poems for our ‘reflection time’ at the end of assembly on Friday.

Here is the piece about friendship and team spirit that Rhys and Tameema read to us last week…thank you Year 6…

Ah, to be a friend.

To love, to care

To be kind to all you meet,

To be fair, a sensation equal to none,

Will make your life brighter than ever.

Ah, to be in a team,

To cheer on, to try hard,

To be kind to all with you,

To be supportive, a feeling better than any,

Will make your team a family stronger than all the others.

If you listen to this then all you will gain, is friends.

RACE FOR LIFE

Today all the children will be going to CSAC to run the race for life and raise vital funds for Cancer Research. KS1 will be starting at 1:00 and KS2 will be running from 2:00. Please come along and support the children (and staff). We have already raised a huge amount and are so thankful for those of you who have donated. Every little helps. We will be collecting donations at the stadium or you can donate online at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lawfordmeadprimary

Photos and an updated total will follow so keep an eye on our Highlights page!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Speak out. Stay Safe.

We had a visit from Buddy, the NSPCC mascot this week.  Buddy and his team taught us about trusted adults we can go to with worries and just in case, the number for Childline, 0800 11 11.

Enjoy your weekend everyone and remember Buddy’s motto, “Speak out. Stay safe.”

Art to be proud of…

Following the success of last terms Summer exhibition day and the fantastic art work which our children produced on their Summer art day, we have taken a small selection to County Hall in Chelmsford, where it will be on display for the rest of this half term. The exhibition is part of an ongoing “Art in Essex Schools” program run by Essex County Council and gives schools the opportunity to apply to use the exhibition space.  We are very proud of all of the artwork and received many positive comments from Essex County Council staff while we were putting the display up!

This exhibit is not open to the public unfortunately, but can you spot your masterpiece in these photos?

Thank you Miss Dearing and Mrs Gibbs for organising!

Smart, smiling and ready to learn!

We were very excited to welcome the children back to school today.  They looked so smart and proud in their uniforms.

In assembly (after a uniform fashion show, obviously!) we reminded ourselves of our school values. Here is Mrs Wilson’s poem about integrity and below is the video Mrs Tuck showed us (about Liverpool’s historic ‘bounce back’ from 0-3 down), to illustrate resilience.

What value are you excited to show this year?  Leave a comment below.
