This Friday we are encouraging families to have a screen-free day away from computers, tablets and phones. Below are 7 different screen-free ideas for you to have a go at. Any additional information that you may need is here on the blog. We hope you enjoy your day away from technology!

English

  • Activity 1:
  • Creative writing. Write a story about something that has inspired you since Christmas.
  • It could be based on an event that happened to you, something that you have read or watched or something that made you think.
  • Once you have finished, you could even read aloud or perform your writing to your family.
  • Activity 2
  • Produce an information booklet about what you have learnt about our topic of World War Two. You CANNOT use a device to research! You are just presenting what you have learnt
  • Here are some areas of World War Two that we have covered:
  • Evacuation of children
  • Experiences of people from Goodnight Mr Tom
  • The Blitz
  • Rationing
  • Air raid shelters
  • Anne Frank

Maths

  • Apply your ratio skills
  • Get a pack of coloured sweets (eg Smarties, Fruit Pastels, Moams) or a set of different coloured objects (eg pens, pencils, Lego bricks)
  • Choose 2 or 3 colours and write the ratio of one colour to another. Try writing the ratio of all the colours in total
  • You could even make a pattern to help show the ratio of different colours

Science

  • Fossil making
  • Follow the instructions on the document to make your own fossils. There is a video link at the bottom of the document as well.
  • Please note that once made the fossils will need time to dry (this can take 24-48 hours)
