Afternoon: we sat back, relaxed and watched Arthur Christmas as our treat. Choose an activity of your choice to help you wind down after a busy term at school.

Today’s learning – 17/12/2020

Reading: complete 30 minutes of Read Theory

English: Have a look back at your narrative. We spent time editing in class today. With a green pen if you have one, edit for the following:

  • can I uplevel my vocabulary with a thesaurus?
  • Have I stuck to past or present tense?
  • Do I need to check any spellings using a dictionary?
  • Have I included dialogue?
  • Do I have paragraphs?
  • Have I added detail and description to show how my characters feel?

Maths:

Today’s learning – 16/12/2020

Reading: complete 30 minutes of Read Theory and upload to Seesaw

English: we are carrying on with our narrative from yesterday. You were able to write your setting description, now you will carry on with your narrative.

Maths: we carried on with measure and this time applied what we had been learning into worded problems.

Challenge:

Spellings: Again, complete some Spelling Shed or do Look, Cover, Write, Check with this week’s spellings

Maths meeting:

Science: we completed our unit on Electricity last week. Have a go at these test-style questions to deepen your understanding. Finished? Explore the following website and complete one of the experiments if possible!

Today’s learning – 15/12/2020

Reading: complete 30 minutes of Read Theory using the login in your diary

Writing: rewatch the video from yesterday. We will write our narrative over two days: today you will focus on describing the setting and your characters.

Use the following character and setting mats to support your setting and character descriptions to start your narrative – don’t forget to stick to present or past tense!

Maths: we continued to deepen our understanding of converting between mm,cm and m. Have a go at the attached sheet and check your answers:

Computing: In Computing this afternoon, we had a go at creating our own quizzes on Powerpoint. If you are unable to access this, complete an hour’s coding using Code for life

Today’s learning – 14/12/2020

Reading: we read the next two chapters of Holes. At home, complete 30 minutes of Read Theory and post on Seesaw.

English: we planned a narrative based on the below video:

Maths:

We completed our baseline for TTR again. Give yourself 5 minutes, post on Seesaw how many you get correct.

Maths: we carried on with Measure today – looking at length. Watch the following video and complete the task (first task is a challenge, second task is the sheet for the whole class):

German:

  1. Numbers revision – print out (or draw out) this addition grid and fill in the answers (numbers) in words.

Art day 2020

The children enjoyed spending their day focusing on Banksy-inspired art. They wrote poems, learned more about the famous picture Girl with Balloon and produced their own pieces. Well done to all children who produced some fantastic art today.
