Half term challenge

Hello year three I hope you have been enjoying your half term holiday? Have you remembered to practice your spellings and work on your Egyptian  projects? I know Miss Middleton and I have already set you homework but we need some canopic jars for our year group assembly. I wonder if any of you could take up the challenge of trying to make some for us as part of your Egyptian project?

Black History Month

Here are a few photos of Aspen class enjoying acting out the story of Anansi and the moss covered rock. image image image

We were very lucky because one member of our class gave a talk and showed us photos of when her family visited South Africa. Her aunt was even lucky enough to meet Nelson Mandela.

Black History Fun!

Hello there, this is Ash class blogging from school. Today we have been learning about Barack Obama because he is the first ever black president. We also had a visit from an African story teller who told us the story of Anansi the spider and we were allowed to act it out.

Here is a youtube clip that tells you the story:

Some of us even got to dress up. Here are some photos for you to enjoy.

Another eventful week in Ash class

What a week we have had. We designed and made our own pizzas and we even got to eat them! We did some fantastic outdoor learning in maths, learnt lots about the skeleton and have been learning all about adverbs. Can anyone remember what an adverb is? What was your favourite part of the week?

Designing and making a pizza

In science we have been learning about balanced diets and the different food groups. Can you remember why we decided to design and make pizza in our design technology lessons? Did you enjoy making and then eating your pizza today?

In literacy this week we have been learning about the features of instructions. Tomorrow we are going to write our own instructions for making pizza. What are the steps to success that you will need to remember when writing your instructions?

Measuring investigation

Did you enjoy mathematics today? What was the problem you were trying to solve? I will give a dojo point to the person that answers this question first: What do we call the distance around a two-dimensional shape?

Ash’s school councilors!

Well done to Elsie and Oliver for becoming our school council representatives. All the children who took part gave fantastic speeches and should feel very proud. We have been learning about democracy so we made sure our vote was fair. Everyone voted by writing on a piece of paper in secret. These votes were then counted by Miss Spragge.
