Today’s remote learning – 19/7/22

Reading – 30 minutes of reading your own book. Try and find a cool, shady spot to do this.

English – Can you write a story based on this image? Can you use ambitious vocabulary to describe what you would see, hear, think or feel?

Here is a story starter, which you can use to continue the story if you wish:

Most visitors are a little shocked (to put it mildly) when they arrive at Animal Town. Despite the fact that the name of the town gives a slight indication to passers-by that the inhabitants of the town are ‘not normal’, it’s as if people don’t believe things until the see them with their own eyes!

Once you get used to being in Animal Town – or so they say – seeing an orangutan behind a desk in a sheriff’s office and upholding the law to an impeccably high standard becomes relatively ‘normal’…

Let’s say you are a visitor in Animal Town. Describe your experience.

Alternatively, you could be one of the residents…

Every night, when the city sleeps, they come out of hiding. Their home is far below the city, and during the day when the city is alive with activity like a hive of busy bees they spend their time planning and plotting their next job.
You see, during the night, when they think nobody will see them (they are exceptionally small) they sneak around above ground. They take things: valuable things.
Have you ever had something go missing and wondered where it has gone? You may have just found the reason why!
Tonight is no different: they are on their way to make a small fortune…
