Science and Technology Week

At Lawford Mead this week we are celebrating Science and Technology week!

The week started with learning about the inventor John Logie Baird! Can you remember what he helped to invent?

Why not have a look at this website to refresh your memory:

This afternoon we also learnt about the formation of rocks. As part of this we did a ‘simulation’ where we simulated a sedimentary rock being formed by making a sandwich! The different ingredients in our sandwich represented the different things that make up sedimentary rock. We than had to compress our ‘sediment’.

Can you remember the names of the 3 types of rocks? Can you remember how they are all formed?

World Book Day

During World book day, Year 3 explored the story of The ‘Hodgeheg’. We created our own play-script based on a paragraph from the book. Some of us also designed our own front cover’s for the book, acted out the play-script or created lost posters for poor Max!

We also really enjoyed getting to visit the reception class to read to them. What a fantastic day!

This morning we visited the reception children in Larch and read to them. We hope you enjoyed listening to us Larch? In year three we decided to dress up as animal characters from Dick King Smith texts. I think you will agree that we all look amazing and have certainly shown passion when making our costumes? Miss Davis and Miss Middleton would like to say a big thank you to the year three parents and their children for all of the effort they have put in. We are having an interesting day writing play scripts which we will act out this afternoon and are designing book tokens for a competition.
