Home Learning 1/2/21

Hello, Year 5! Here is our Happy Picture of the Day:

Below is the home learning for today. Remember that you don’t need to print off the work you can complete it on a separate piece of paper.

Each day we expect you to complete:

-20 minutes of reading

-20 minutes of Times Table Rockstars

-20 minutes of Spelling Shed

English:

This week we will be continuing to look at Newspaper Reports. Our new grammar focus is indirect and direct speech. Watch the video below, and complete the activity afterwards.

Reading:

Read this extract from Cosmic and answer the questions next to it.

Maths:

Today we are starting our new topic of Fractions. We know that you were unable to complete these topic last year so we begin with a recap of what fractions are and will build up from that over the coming weeks. Do not worry as we will revisit this when we return back to school.

We will be using White Rose videos to clearly explain each concept relating to fractions and completing work that is taught in them. If you need to, watch the videos several times to be sure you understand what is being explained.

Watch the following video clip introducing what fractions are. When it says stop and complete certain questions on the worksheet, use the worksheet link below to use the taught explanations. There is no need to print the sheet out, you can just write the question number and your answer.

You can mark your work using the attached answer sheet (again, no need to print this out, just use it to check your answers)

German:

German verb “haben” – to have. Today you will be learning to use the verb haben which is really important in German. Here it is in full:

haben to have
ich habeI have
du hast you have
er / sie /es hathe / she / it has
wir habenwe have
ihr habtyou guys have
sie habenthey have
Sie haben you (formal) have
  1. On the first sheet you need to match up the pronouns with the correct part of haben, then fill in gaps in sentences and try to translate the sentences into English. The answers are there for you to mark your work, but don’t be tempted to look at the answers first!
  2. Wordsearch sheet with the verb haben.
  3. For fun: this song is what children might sing when they are waiting for their dinner. Can you spot “Wir haben”  in the song? Here is a video you can watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuzQraV8d1Q and the words are here too for the first 3 verses:

The answers are at the bottom of the PDF documents, no peeking! We can’t wait to see your work on Seesaw.

      Hi Hollie,

Are you not able to ring your mum to ask for the codes? If not, I can email them to your mum again.
