Tuesday’s Learning (23rd February).

Work Week GIF by Denyse®

Happy Tuesday everyone! Well done for your first day back yesterday.

Today’s learning.

Phonics: We are continuing to look at the two different ways we say and spell the ‘oi’ grapheme. Today we would like you to read the phoneme spotter and then underline or write all words that include either the ‘oi’ or ‘oy’ grapheme. Remember you can check your answer by clicking on the link below on the Phonics Play website. As an extra challenge we would love to see some silly sentences being written using as many of the words you have found today.

Mathematics:

Today we are looking at applying the 2 times tables.

You may be able to use your doubling knowledge from yesterday to help. Before you look at the worksheet you can watch the white Rose Hub learning video to support your understanding. Also you can use my maths video to help you answers each question on your sheet.

English: We are looking at adverbs today. Adverbs describe a verb (action word). The video below explains this further. For your task we would like you to firstly find some adverbs in sentences. You can either underline them or write them on your own paper. Then we would like to use the list of ‘how’ adverbs we have given you to complete the sentences linked to The Very Hungry Caterpillar story. Try to challenge yourself to use some adverbs you have not heard of or used before. Also remember your sentences will need to make sense. Finally we would like you to make a list of adverbs you think would be useful for your writing later in the week linked to our story.

Finally we are looking at Science today. Over the next few weeks we are going to be looking at habitats. Habitat means where animals including humans live and how it helps them to survive. Today we would like you to think about local habitats. These are the type of places we live in or live near. Read the information about the four different habitats and then sort the animals into there matching habitat. You do not need to print and cut out just list or draw each animal under each habitat heading. As an extra challenge you may want to go for a walk with your family and then draw a map of your local habitat. You may even see some animals you can include on your map.
