School Council’s final project 2017

Hello

The school Council have worked really hard this year to raise money for charity. We have supported Comic Relief and Children in Need.

Next week we will be including some skipping in our PE lessons, using some new equipment provided by the British Heart Foundation.

Please remember to bring in a donation of 50p on your PE day (Monday for KS2 and Wednesday for KS1) The money we raise will go to the British Heart Foundation, but the school will be able to keep all of the new equipment plus a small percentage of the money raised to put towards some new exercise equipment. The British Heart Foundation are trying to encourage everyone to keep their hearts and bodies healthy by doing as much exercise as possible.

We hope you will enjoy taking part and using the new equipment.

Thank you

School Council.

Red Nose Day update

We have been really busy this week making and selling cakes for red nose day.

On Monday afternoon we got to come out of class to bake and decorate some cakes to sell at our bake sale stall. Thank you to Mrs Wanags for helping us and Mrs Saveall for getting some cakes ready at the weekend.

We sold out of red noses very quickly and the cakes have been selling really well too. We have had some more donations so we will be back on the playground on Friday selling cakes.

Keep checking the School Council blog for an update of the grand total raised!

Red Nose Day is coming!

Hello everyone.

Great news! We are preparing for Red Nose Day 2017, on Friday 24th March. On Red Nose Day you will be able to come to school wearing anything red, bringing in a donation of £1.

In the week leading up to Red Nose Day we will be selling official Red Noses for £1 each and running a cake a nd biscuit sale.

The school council will be making some of the cakes, but if you would like to help out please make some at home or donate a box from a shop, for us to sell in aid of Comic Relief.

We know the cake and biscuit sale will be popular so the more donations we have the more cakes there will be available!

Thank you

The School Council.

Designing our playground

Hello everyone, we need your help with an important job this week.

In our meeting this Wednesday we worked in teams to design layouts for the new tyre park which will be appearing on our playground very soon.

Your class teachers have a powerpoint from Mr Poyton with our designs on and we would like you to vote for your favourite. Mr Poyton will share all of the designs with someone from the tyre park company and let them know which design was the most popular.

Thank you

School Council

Welcome Back

A huge welcome back to all of the staff and students from the school council.

We had our first meeting of the term on Wednesday and it looks like it is going to be another busy one!

We have been catching up on some paper work and had some important letters to write this week. Soon we will start thinking about our next fundraising event (Comic/Sports Relief) and planning some more exciting improvements to the playground.

Remember to tell your class councilors if you have any exciting ideas or suggestions so that we can talk about them in our meetings.

Meeting a School Governor

This half term the current school council, along with last years’ school councillors, met with Mr Cummings, one of our school governors.

He came to look at our new playground equipment and see it in use.

He also gave us a chance to ask any questions about being a school governor.

He left us with a task; To discuss with our classes what we would like to do next to improve our school. He has promised to take our suggestions to the next Governors meeting to see what he can do!

So far we have one fantastic suggestion of building a wildlife area with a webcam or motion detector camera, so that we can watch the wildlife around our school. This could be great for science, geography, PSHE, literacy work and much more!

Children in Need

This week the school council have been getting ready for Children in Need.

Look out for us selling wristbands at break and lunchtimes next week (£1 each).

Then on Friday; come to school wearing your pyjamas or onesie, enter our colouring competition or take part in our lucky dip or name the teddy games to win some fun Children in Need prizes.

Remember it’s all about raising money for Children in Need!

Thank you

PS: have a look at our updated School Council board, at the top of the stairs. We are currently adding photos and information!

Our New School Council leaders

Welcome to our new year at Lawford Mead Primary. We have revealed our new year 6 leaders and handed them their badges. Now we are waiting for the votes to find out who will be the class reps from years 2 to 5.

Our Chair person is Joel

Our Vice chair is Amber

Our Secretary is Ava

Our Treasurer is Brandon.

We are all very excited to get started and see what we can do for our school this year!

School Council update

Hello from your school councillors,

This term we have been focussing on ordering some new equipment for the playground, we have requested some gym trail equipment which should arrive soon and be ready in September. We have also worked with Mr Poyton and Mrs Baker to submit a bid for even more funding for playground equipment, as this was something that a lot of people have requested.

Well done to everybody who took part in our ‘Lively Lives’ competition, unfortunately we didn’t win, but all of your posters looked great.

Thank you to everybody for completing our behaviour survey, we worked hard to analyse all of the data and present it to you in assembly on Monday. It was also great to hear some of your questions and feedback at the time. The data will also be shared with Mrs Baker and the governors, as they know how important it is to hear your opinions about the school!

We have one more project to work on this year and will update you when we have discussed it more.

Thank you

From The School Council.

Exciting times on the playground!

Following our request for more playground equipment, the school council have been given the task of helping to design a gym trail. We have been given a budget to spend on equipment and have been looking at some of the different types available.

We would like to hear what some of the other pupils think and if you have a look at this website Screen Shot 2016-03-23 at 13.00.35 Screen Shot 2016-03-23 at 12.55.33

you will be able to see the sort of things we have been thinking of getting. Please let your class councillor know if you have any requests!

Thank you
