Sport’s Day 2016

IMG_0498 IMG_0513

What a day we had yesterday celebrating our year 6’s final Sport’s Day at Lawford Mead!

The year 5 & 6 competed in their house teams: Badgers, Hedgehogs, Squirrels and Foxes, but it was the Badgers who took the title of ‘winners’ with the most amount of points.

An extra shout-out goes to Alex White & Holly Sprules, who are now both officially the undefeated champions in the sprints from Nursery – Year 6.

Well done to all who took part and a huge thank you to all the family and friends that came to watch!

WWII Home Guard Visit

On Monday 20th Year 6 were lucky enough to have a visit from Miss Lambert’s father and brothers, who brought in lots of REAL artefacts from WW2. The children were then given a short speech about WW2, focusing on ‘The Home Guard’ and had a chance to ask questions about and see real replicas. From gas masks to fragments of bombs, the pupils were thoroughly engrossed and engaged by the experience!

A huge thank you to Miss Lambert and her family members for organising the visit 🙂

Milah’s Judaism Presentation

As part of Culture & Diversity fortnight, Milah from Redwood prepared a presentation on the Jewish faith. She visited both year 1 and year 6 classes. Well done Milah – we really enjoyed the presentation and appreciate the effort you put it. It was so interesting to learn about your culture and traditions. A special mention to Miss Lambert who helped Milah to make some traditional Jewish cookies called hamantaschen to share with the class.
