Home learning 4th January 2021

Hello Year 4!

We have sent home a pack of work for you to complete on Monday 4th January, when we will be having a home learning day after the Christmas holidays.

In the morning, we would like you to complete:

  • A spelling task – look, cover, write, check of our spelling words for that week
  • A piece of creative writing – look at the picture and write sentences to describe what you can see, hear, think or feel.
  • A reading comprehension task – read the text and answer the questions
  • Some times tables questions
  • Some column addition and subtraction questions

In the afternoon, we would like you to complete:

  • A science task all about our last topic – Sound
  • A German task set by Mrs Lees about numbers

If you were not in school on Friday, a copy of the home learning pack can be downloaded here.

Remember to upload your learning to Seesaw – you don’t need to bring your learning packs back into school.

Also on that day, we will have a Year 4 Zoom meeting at 11am to talk about your learning and what you have achieved so far.

Homework – Anglo Saxon and Viking project

For your homework this week and over the Christmas holidays, we would like you to get ready for our next topic – Traders and Raiders! This topic is all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.

Here are some ideas:

  • Research and make a poster all about an aspect of Anglo-Saxon or Viking times – it could be about weapons or buildings or what life was like
  • Find out about any Saxon or Viking invasions
  • Try making Anglo-Saxon bread or Viking flatbread (search for online recipes)
  • Look at images of Anglo-Saxon coins. Can you design your own coin? Could you make your own version of an Anglo-Saxon coin?
  • Look at some Viking art (Urnes or Jellinge). Can you design and create your own piece?

Make sure you upload your work by Monday 4th January.

Have a lovely Christmas break!
