Today’s learning 10/11/20

Today in English, we wrote our soliloquies imagining we were either a Roman soldier or Celtic Warrior about to go into battle. Can you have a go at writing 3 different paragraphs imagining what you would think, feel and fear?

Here is an example and word bank to help you:

I think carefully about our plan as we stand waiting, ready for the upcoming blood bath. Now, I must remember my role and use my mighty weapons to destroy the blue-faced barbarians. Without mercy, we will grind their bare bodies into dust.

I feel confident in our men that we will be victorious. On the battlefield, our organisation and tactics will triumph against the wild, unruly Celts.

I fear the savages will strive to take down our eagle but we are strong. Our shield wall will protect us! We shall annihilate them!

Today in German, we were reading and understanding a text:

LO: read and understand a description of a monster; write a few sentences.

  1. Read the description of the monster on the sheet. It uses body vocabulary and colours. If you need to check any meanings use google translate.
  2. Draw a monster in the box which matches the description. As long as the colours of the different parts are correct you can choose how many eyes, legs etc you give it.
  3. Use the sentence building grid at the bottom to write 2 or 3 sentences describing your own monster, and then draw and colour it to match your description.

We also practise estimating answers in our Maths Meeting:

Today in English, we planned our soliloquy:

A soliloquy is an act of speaking your thoughts aloud when alone, a device generally used by characters in a play.

Imagine you are a Roman soldier or a Celtic warrior about to go into battle. What would you think, feel and fear?

In maths, watch the video Subtract two 4-digit numbers (more than one exchange) and have a go at the activites:
