Summer Reading Challenge!

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place over the summer holidays throughout the UK. The 2020 challenge will run from June until September. While libraries are closed, children and families have the chance to take part online and receive rewards for their reading.

For 2020, the theme will be the ‘Silly Squad’, with new, funny characters, ready to bring the UK a seriously silly summer. As well as the usual reading challenge, there will be themed activities and space to share recommendations online too.

How to take part/join in:

  • Sign up at https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/ from 5th June onwards. Once you have signed up, you can create your own profile.
  • You then have to set your own challenge of how many books you are going to read before September.
  • You can read anything you enjoy – comics, joke books, poetry, fiction, non-fiction.
  • Each time you finish a book, add it to your profile and write a review. You will be rewarded with online badges, games and videos.
  • You will receive a digital certificate once you have completed your challenge!
  • Families can join in too with new activities, games and quizzes each week.

Now is the perfect time to sign up and take part, even if you haven’t done so before. We all know how important it is to keep reading and now it is even more important than ever!

Let us know on the blogs or Seesaw if you are taking part and how you are getting on!
