Can you get a parent, brother, sister or grandparent over video chat to test you on the following words? Mark them together and then keep practising using the games above if you need to! This website has some flashcards that you can use to help you:

https://www.spellzone.com/word_lists/printable-resources/flash-cards-13480.pdf

Remember to keep practising the Year 3/4 words too! You can find them here along with some fun ideas for practising spellings: https://www.lawfordmead.essex.sch.uk/blogs/year4/2020/03/16/spellings/

English – Reading:

History:

Watch this video about the Normans: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/story-of-britain-the-normans-animation/z4xjmfr

You are going to compare the Normans to another time period. You can choose from any that we have looked at this year. This includes the Romans, Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. What similarities and differences can you find between the Normans and one other time period?

Home learning pack 18/5/2020-22/5/2020

Here is the weekly home learning pack for this week, like the ones we’ve posted the last couple of weeks.

The majority of the content is the same as the daily blogs but adapted slightly to avoid the need for external websites.

We are aware that moving from one link to another can be time-consuming for some so by uploading a week’s worth of learning we hope we can provide further support to those families who would prefer this method.

Weekly timetable 18/5/2020-22/5/2020

Similarly to the last few weeks, we will be uploading daily lessons for you to complete and share with us. Please share your work on the Seesaw page – along with your name so we know who the work belongs to.

German:

Hallo liebe Kinder! Another week has gone by and I hope you and your families are all well. This week all year groups are going to be focusing on Numbers in German. Viel Spaß! Bis bald! Frau Lees

Here is a list of numbers that will help you today. Cedar has learnt up to 100 so can choose to do Activities Section A or B. Chestnut has learnt up to 20 so can just do Activities Section A.

Activities Section A (1-20)

  1. Practise saying the numbers in German up to 20. This video shows you how to say them if you need a reminder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjRIv6Slnb4
  2. Go around your house and count (in German) all the rot (red) things you can see, all the blau (blue) things and all the gelb (yellow) things.
  3. On a piece of paper, draw and colour the red/blue/yellow things you counted around the house and then write in German the number of items you have for each colour.
  4. This is a good activity to try if you have a willing sibling or adult to play with. Go to this link to find a 5-in-a-row game. The instructions are on the second page. https://www.lightbulblanguages.co.uk/resources/PrimaryGerman/ge-5inanrow-nosto15.pdf
  5. Go to this link and print out the sheet if possible. Try all the activities.https://www.lightbulblanguages.co.uk/resources/PrimaryGerman/numbers-to-20-practice-ge.pdf

Activities Section B (1-100)

  1. Practise saying the numbers from the sheet. (If you have a printer to it out then that would be useful.)
  2. Using the numbers sheet above go around your house and count things in German such as: dried pasta shapes; biscuits in a packet; grains of rice in a spoonful; a pot of lego bricks; potatoes in a bag….. See how high you can count! Keep a note as you go round.
  3. On a piece of A4 paper, draw and colour the things you counted and in German write the number of each group of items.
  4. Try counting up to 100 in 5s in German. Challenge: say other times tables in German, eg, vier, acht, zwölf, sechzehn, zwanzig etc.
  5. This is a good activity to try if you have a willing sibling or adult to play with. Go to this link to find a 5-in-a-row game. The instructions are on the second page. https://www.lightbulblanguages.co.uk/resources/PrimaryGerman/ge-5inanrow-nosto64.pdf
