Buttery Biscuits

In Year 4 we have been cooking scrumptious biscuits in D&T during science/ D&T week. Here we have written a set of class instructions together (in case you want to make them at home)!

Ingredients for the lovely biscuits:

  • 100 grams of golden butter
  • 1 tablespoon of slippery vanilla extract
  • 175 grams of snow white flour
  • 45 grams of crystal sugar

Equipment:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoons to mix
  • Clean hands
  • Baking paper
  • Baking tray
  • Cooling rack

Method:

  1. Before you begin, set your oven to 180 degrees and check all the doors are shut.
  2. Firstly, you must wash your dirty hands in warm water to kill the germs off.
  3. Secondly, mix the butter together with the sugar.
  4. Thirdly, throw in gently the vanilla extract to flavour your mixture.
  5. Next, pour in the snow white flour and mix with a wooden spoon (you could even use your hands to knead the mixture).
  6. Now, grab a small ball of the mixture and make a circular shape.
  7. Then, place it onto the baking paper ready for the oven.
  8. Put the uncooked biscuits into the scorching hot oven for 15 minutes.
  9. Leave the scrumptious biscuits to cook. You could pass time by dancing and singing to some songs!
  10. Remove the biscuits from the oven using an oven mitt and leave them to cool on a cooling rack.
  11. Tuck into your tasty treats!!!

Handy hint:

When using an oven, seek your parent/ guardians help!

Measure your ingredients carefully!

ALWAYS use baking paper, not tin foil as otherwise it may stick!
