Home learning Spring 1 Week 5

In English this week we have started to look at Non-Chronological reports.

We are going to planning our own report on the Stone age, Bronze age or Iron age and using a grid to plan each paragraph by taking notes from information on different websites.

In maths we have been finishing off our topic on multiplication and division by looking at scaling problems and finding combinations.

Today’s Learning 14/12/21

In English this morning we looked at using prefixes. We focused on super-, anti- and auto-. We identified what the prefixes did to the word and then created a range of nouns by adding these prefixes.

Some examples were supermarket, superhero, antifreeze, antibiotic, automatic and automobile.

What words can you think of that use these prefixes?

In Maths today we looked at multiplying by 8. We looked at lots of different representations of this. For example:

How could you represent 9×8?

This afternoon we continued reading the class book of Helping Hercules and answered a range of questions about the text.

Today’s Learning 13/12/21

In the morning Year 3 had their Muddy Adventures treat time, followed by German with Mrs Lees where they created Christmas Decorations.

This afternoon we completed a non fiction reading activity answering multiple choice and sequencing questions.

To finish off the day we had History. We looked at different famous Greeks and what they invented or were famous for. We created Tom Trump Cards for them.
