Did you enjoy mathematics today? What was the problem you were trying to solve? I will give a dojo point to the person that answers this question first: What do we call the distance around a two-dimensional shape?
This week in maths we are problem solving. This morning we solved a logic problem. We had to help the farmer take a fox, hen and bag of grain across the river in his boat. Can you remember the rules? What was difficult about this problem? Did we solve it on our first attempt? What other types of problems have we solved this week in mathematics?
Wow! What a busy first few weeks back we’ve had Year 3. I hope you agree that we are very lucky to have such a lovely new school? Miss Middleton and I are very proud of how well you have all settled in and how hard you have been working.
We have already started to learn about the importance of healthy eating and our bodies in science and DT and are currently making a non chronological report in literacy sharing all our scientific knowledge. Also in history we have been learning about Ancient Egypt and we even made our own pyramids this week! Rumour has it that next week you will be learning about Egyptian mummies and might even get to have a try for yourself. I wonder how you might do this? Any ideas?
