Hello, brilliant Lawford Mead pupils,
I am very sad and sorry that we can’t all be in school together to start 2021. You worked so hard in the Autumn term and showed our school values throughout. I know many of us will be feeling frustrated, but we all need to take care, be safe and look after each other. Being back in school together when the time comes is something we can all look forward to.
Until we are all back together, the teachers are going to be working very hard to provide the best learning activities for you to complete at home. It is very important you keep learning. Teachers in Reception and Nursery will use Tapestry to communicate with adults about learning activities. Teachers in Years 1 to 6 will use the year group blogs. Please ask your adults at home to help you use Seesaw (or Tapestry for Reception and Nursery) to share your learning with teachers. There will also be an opportunity to see teachers and your friends on Zoom each day.
I will get back to doing my weekly assembly videos. You can ask your adults to nominate you for an assembly award! Adults just need to leave a comment below my blog post each week (including this one, see below!) to say which award they think you deserve and why. I will try to mention all our nominees in each assembly video and there are no limits to how many times you can be nominated and given a ‘shout out’!
The awards are:
- A Head of School award for showing our school values of PASSION, INTEGRITY, RESPECT, ASPIRATION or RESILIENCE when learning at home.
- A Reader or Writer of the Week award for showing the values in your reading or writing.
- A Sports Personality of the Week award for showing the values in PE, sport and exercise.
- A Jackie Johnson Award for good manners, kindness and helping out around the house.
Can you prove to your adults that you deserve an award nomination each week? The assembly videos will be posted on the website on Friday afternoons. I can’t wait to hear about what you are achieving and how proud you are making everyone at home.

Arsalaan from Year 2 – Writer of the Week award for showing the values in writing
I would like to nominate Alfie year 4 for a reader of the week award. he was doing his reading from a sheet that the teacher had set and he noticed 2 spelling mistakes in the text. I was very impressed with him for concentrating enough to notice these mistakes.
I would like to nominate Frida- year 2 Bonsai for being so brave accepting she will start at your school when it’s safe to open and for reading books to her younger sister when mummy and daddy have been busy getting our things ready to move house. So proud of her.
Milo from year 2 birch. For A Head of School award for showing our school values of PASSION, INTEGRITY, RESPECT, ASPIRATION or RESILIENCE when learning at home. For going to bed and waking up excited everyday to learn and have school zoom meetings and then putting in 100% effort everyday.
I would like to nominate Jamie in Bonsai for the Head of School Award for settling into home learning so quickly. He has shown passion, aspiration and resilience when undertaking his work and always strives to do his best with a positive attitude and produces lovely clear and neat work.

I would like to nominate Darcey, Y4, Chestnut, for the Head Teachers award, for showing great enthusiasm for her learning this week, and completing all of her set homework.
I would like to nominate my daughter Hamsini in Year 6 because:
She has read Harry Potter and the pest in the nest bear and hare
She has baked food
Meditating
Gardening outside
And been doing all the homework on the blog!
I would like to nominate my two daughters Hamsini from year 6 and Achira from Year 2.
During this tome they have been doing things together such as:
Cooking
Reading new books
Doing lots and lots of work at home
Helping us do the laundry
Writing stories
And painting different pictures!
I would like to nominate ellie – pine, Millie – cedar, Harley – aspen and scarlet -birch. They have all worked really hard this time around. Doing all their set homework despite it being last minute news that they weren’t going back to school yet
I would like to nominate Michael from Year 2 Bonsai for Head of School award as he has shown all of the values and really worked very hard this week. I’m very proud of him.
Would like to nominate Oliver from rowen class year six. For completely turning his attitude around in week two and really working hard at math. Completing all the challenge work set too. His confidence is now showing through 🙂
