Healthy Schools Award

The Healthy Schools Award and Outstanding Contribution to Emotional Health and Wellbeing

In January 2017 we were delighted to be granted the Healthy Schools Award.  The NHS Provide Service visited the school to moderate the following areas our provision at Lawford Mead Primary:

  • Learning, Teaching and Curriculum
  • PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education)
  • Emotional Health & Wellbeing
  • Physical Activity
  • Healthy Eating

As well as being awarded Healthy Schools Foundation Status, the school was then nominated for Outstanding Contribution to Emotional Health and Wellbeing.  Which we went on to win at an award ceremony in March 2017.

The following areas helped us win these awards:

  • Our range of emotional wellbeing intervention groups, including ‘Dina School’
  • The teaching of PSHE and the place given to emotional literacy across the curriculum
  • The range of themed enrichment activities across the curriculum
  • Our PE and Sports provision including a vast range of extra-curricular clubs
  • Our kitchen’s Level 5 hygiene award and healthy menu choices
  • The value placed on pupil voice through the school council and responsibilities given to play leaders and sports role models
  • Our partnerships within the community and relationships with parents through engagement activities and the support we provide
  • Parent testimonials

We are very proud to have received this recognition and grateful to all who have contributed. Thank you.
