Today was Art Day at Lawford Mead. Each class was given a famous artist and piece of their work to study for the day. In year 1 we learned some fascinating facts about Vincent Van Gogh. We found out that his favourite colour was yellow, he loved to paint outdoors, he painted quickly using thick paint and that he visited several countries including; England, France and Belgium.
We looked at some of his famous paintings and then tried to recreate his famous ‘Starry night’ painting using oil pastels. We tried to copy the short thick brush strokes and blended the colours together to create shades and textures.
We are really proud of our finished work, what do you think?
